What to Expect If You Walk In
Before entering the facility, the reception team may ask a few screening questions to ensure you’re eligible for our drug and alcohol rehab services and looking for same-day admission. Our admissions phone line is available for other questions or needs.
You’ll be welcomed into a waiting area with a special admissions phone line, where you’ll call to complete your pre-assessment, insurance verification and approvals. If approved, you’ll be provided an approximate wait time, as walk-ins are handled between other scheduled patients’ admissions. Admission is not guaranteed.
While you’re waiting for approval, you can enjoy a comfortable waiting space with a TV, and we’ll keep your luggage secure, off to the side but in your sight.
Once your admission is set to begin, the facility staff will conduct a mandatory search of your person and belongings to maintain the well-being and sobriety of all residents in our facilities. Any items not permitted during treatment will be securely stored until your stay ends. Additionally, occasional searches may occur throughout your stay.
How Does Scheduling My Admission Help Me?
Scheduling your admission in advance is highly recommended, with several benefits:
- A shorter wait time when you arrive onsite
- Knowing your rehab costs, what to pack and facility policies before you get there
- More prep time for your medical team to know what you’ll need, like dietary restrictions or allergies
The Rehab Experience
After Admission
Patients at Orlando Recovery Center begin in a rehab program that best suits their needs, then may step down to lower treatment levels as they progress through their plan. Recovery often starts with a medical detox, followed by inpatient or outpatient care.
Medical Detox
A medically supervised detox process can help you overcome the physical symptoms of drug withdrawal. Throughout this difficult first step, our priority is your safety and comfort. Our medical staff will maintain your physical safety during detox and care for you around the clock to ensure a healthy detox process. Detoxification alone can’t change the course of an addiction, so a rehab program usually follows it.
Inpatient Rehab
After medical detox, inpatient rehab is often the vital next step on the road to healing. Inpatient rehab, sometimes referred to as residential rehab, is an intensive program in which clients spend work with medical and clinical professionals to learn how to live life without substances. With a variety of clinical and recreational therapy options and onsite amenities, inpatient care can be a transformative piece of a full continuum of care.
Outpatient Rehab
Outpatient care services provide non-residents the services and treatment they need to thrive outside of our facilities and throughout their personal recovery journey. At The Orlando Recovery Center, clients work with counselors to create relapse prevention strategies and find support. This can take place in personal sessions or via telemedicine — a cutting-edge method of providing clients clinical health care at a distance.
Living at the Facility
Once you’ve decided to start treatment at Orlando Recovery Center, it’s time to plan your stay.
When are walk-ins accepted at your facilities?
Walk-ins are only accepted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, and only for substance abuse treatment. Patients entering our inpatient mental health rehab program are required to schedule their appointment in advance.
What if you aren’t the right treatment center for me?
If we cannot admit you at Orlando Recovery Center we’ll refer you to another rehab facility we trust that will be a better fit for your needs. Our community outreach team member will work with you for a smooth transition to the next stage of your recovery.
Can you pick me up or arrange a ride to your facility?
Unfortunately, we cannot arrange transportation to or from the facility for walk-ins. If you need assistance with transportation, call us to schedule your admission.
Will I lose my job if I leave for rehab?
Federal laws and workplace policies are in place to protect people who want to recover from addiction. Understanding your rights as an employee and having a plan can help you keep your job during treatment. If you’re considering using FMLA benefits to protect your job while you’re in rehab, it’s really important to start the process as soon as possible, even before you arrive for treatment. You’ll need to contact your employer to start the paperwork required for FMLA. To protect your privacy, you only need to say you’re seeking medical treatment.
What luggage or items should I pack with me?
At most facilities, only one (1) piece of luggage will be accepted. Remember that our team must review your luggage and securely store any contraband items for the duration of your stay. You can find our packing list and policies online.
What happens to my belongings while I’m waiting for admission?
Your luggage will be kept separate from you while you wait for admission approval, unopened and still in your sight. This is important for patient safety and maintaining a substance-free environment. If you’re unable to start treatment with us, your luggage will be returned to you unopened. If you are accepted for admission, a thorough search of your luggage will be necessary before starting care.
Will I be able to start treatment immediately?
Scheduled admission appointments are prioritized over walk-ins, so there may be a wait time after you’ve been approved. An estimated wait time will be provided but is not guaranteed.

Insurance and Your Obligation During Treatment
Most health insurance plans require you to pay out-of-pocket costs to access your healthcare benefits (collectively known as the “Patient Responsibility”). Your individual Patient Responsibility will differ.
An intake coordinator will discuss your Patient Responsibility with you upon admission or when you are medically stable. They will explain your deductible due during admission and that the co-insurance amount and out-of-pocket cost will be billed and paid for once services are complete. Onsite financial counselors will review your financial responsibility again during treatment with case managers who can help you explore FMLA and short-term disability.
You are responsible for inquiring with your insurance provider before admittance at Orlando Recovery Center to ensure you understand your benefits plan. Please note your insurance policy may not be a “participating provider” with Orlando Recovery Center. You are responsible for all non-covered and out-of-pocket costs associated with your treatment stay.
Your Privacy Is Important to Us
Orlando Recovery Center recognizes your privacy rights. We hold each person’s confidentiality in the highest regard.
Upon arrival at Orlando Recovery Center, each patient can complete all required information releases, allowing staff to discuss important information with necessary others for continuity of care. No information will be disclosed to any party without the patient’s prior written consent, following all HIPAA guidelines and requirements.
