Cost doesn’t have to be a barrier to rehab. Begin your recovery at Orlando Recovery Center if you have First Health insurance coverage.
Fears about the costs of addiction treatment often create a barrier to receiving care. However, many people don’t realize the extent of insurance coverage for addiction treatment. Most insurers, including First Health, will cover much of rehab costs when treatment is medically needed. At Orlando Recovery Center, we accept First Health and can help you verify your benefits and coverage.
First Health Provider Overview
First Health Group Corporation is part of the Aetna company following a 2013 merger. Cofinity also merged with these companies, forming an extensive plan-member treatment network. First Health operates nationwide as an insurer, with over five million members. Along with regular insurance coverage, Aetna also partners with Medicare to offer certain types of this coverage and supplemental plans.
First Health Plans and Coverage Levels
Since it is a major health insurance provider, as with other insurers, First Health offers a range of plan and coverage level options. These differ based on the benefits and what the policyholder pays in premiums and out-of-pocket when receiving care. It’s also important to note that First Health coverage includes PPO plans, which often cover more out-of-pocket costs depending on your provider.
Does First Health Insurance Cover Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment?
Health insurance policies vary depending on your plan, your state and where you receive treatment, but generally, First Health covers treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. Addiction treatment services often fall into the category of medical necessity for a patient’s health. The Affordable Care Act also requires that insurers provide some level of mental health and addiction treatment coverage.
Does First Health Cover Inpatient Rehab?
An inpatient rehab program can be an important part of the treatment process. Inpatient rehab is residential, meaning patients live onsite during this time. The environment is highly structured and organized, which works well in the early days of recovery. First Health may cover inpatient rehab, depending on your medical needs and treatment plan, your insurance policy and where you plan to go for treatment.
Does First Health Cover Outpatient Care?
Outpatient rehab can vary greatly regarding the required time commitment and intensity. The most common factor in outpatient rehab programs is that patients return home in the evenings after their treatment ends. First Health often covers outpatient care.
First Health Mental Health Services Coverage
When someone has a substance use disorder, there’s a high likelihood that they also have a co-occurring mental health disorder. As with substance use disorder treatment, the Affordable Care Act requires many insurers to treat mental health services as an essential health benefit. That means coverage is available for mental health services in many cases with First Health, whether you’re receiving these services inpatient or outpatient. Many specific types of mental health services may be covered by First Health, including certain types of behavioral therapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).
Addiction Treatment Options for First Health Members
There are different levels of care, and many people participate in several types of treatment throughout their rehab plan. Some of the types of rehab programs that may be covered if you’re a First Health member include:
- Medical detox
- Inpatient residential treatment
- Partial hospitalization programs
- Intensive outpatient programs
- Outpatient rehab
First Health Treatment Duration
Your insurer will decide the length of treatment to approve, given your policy with the company, the medical necessity of your treatment, and other individual factors. Everyone’s treatment plan will vary, but typical rehab durations are 30, 60 or 90 days.
